Hinge Pattern

Our Fronts are pre-drilled for hinges to save you time. The first step in determining the correct hinge bore pattern is to determine what type of cabinet you have. Face frame cabinets have a frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. This frame is made up of stiles and rails, usually wider than ¾”, commonly around 1 ½”. The hinges are attached to this frame. Frameless cabinets, also known as full-access cabinets, do not have a face frame. In these cabinets, the hinges are attached directly to the cabinet box, which is usually ¾” or 5/8” thick.

  • Hinge Bore Pattern *

Select a hinge pattern based on the distance from the top and bottom edge of the door. The 3” pattern (HB1) is most common. Note: Doors less than 12” tall will include 2 hinge bores. Located 2” from top and bottom edge.

Don't forget to add hinges. All doors will need a minimum of 2 hinges. Door heights between 36" up to 60" require 3 hinges and doors that are over 60" require 4 hinges. Choose from 1/2” overlay or 1-1/4” overlay. This will match the overlay formula you used when measuring your doors. Most DIYers select 1/2” overlay, click here to view tutorials.
